Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia said that the arrival of first cargo transit train from China to Turkey is going to be a great event for the country. This is the first container transit train which is started in between east coast port of Lianyungang city to Istanbul of Turkey. It has arrived at Georgia on Sunday. In the welcome ceremony, pointing to the new cargo service, he said that it is a great day in the country’s history. He added that the cooperation offered by the countries along the silk route is the reason making the cargo delivery possible in between Europe and China, within short period of time. The new train will help the cargo service to deliver the cargo load at low prices and fast deliveries.
It is known from economic ministry of Georgia that 21 cargo containers with consumer load of electronics got shipped towards port of Lianyungang in China. Thereafter, the load was carried on to the train, which started its departure towards Kazakhstan. After reaching Kazakhstan, the cargo load was transported to Azerbaijan through Caspian Sea through shipping freight services. From Azerbaijan the load headed towards Georgia by rail. After reaching Georgia, the cargo load will be headed towards Istanbul through shipping services. This complete transit process will take about 15 days to complete, which is 25 days less compared to the sea route, said by economy ministry of Georgia.
The Prime Minister of Georgia said that the operation of Silk Road will help the country in gaining its historic mission. He also said that this project will make Georgia act as a linking hub in between Asia and Europe. He expressed that the new route will help their country in gaining more investments. It is known from a state-owned railway service of Georgia that one more container train will be started along the international transport route of Trans-Caspian via Georgia. It is also said by railway of Georgia that the new train will be carrying several thousands of loads through this route in the coming year 2016. The new route will be linking Turkey and Azerbaijan enabling Georgia in between as a cargo hub increasing the route and cargo service efficiency. According to the PM’s speech, Tbilisi extended its cooperation with Beijing since from 2 years, stressing on the importance of free trade in between China and Turkey and the first meeting was going to take place in the coming month. It is known from a source that the President Giorgi Marvelashvili and Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili of Georgia have met Li Yuanchao, Vice President of China on December 12 at a conference in the purpose of celebrating Turkemistan 20th anniversary. In this meeting, President of Georgia said that this free trade agreement with China would be a prominent event for their country.
